DEATH'S DOINGS

Died at her home in Bay City, Texas, Saturday, July 20th, 1907, Mrs. Laura Morrison Currie,of rheumatism of the heart; aged 43 years, 6 months and 22 days.
Her last sickness not of long duration, nor one which gave cause for serious worry until just before her death. She was preparing for a visit here andthe time for her leaving was wired her mother here, but the nervous strain was too great and a later date set. Thursday last a wire requested that she be met in Pueblo. Saturday morning a second wire urged the Morrison family come to Bay City at once. A few minutes later came the word that Laura was dead. To the aged mother and brothers and sister the blow was a serious one. The body reached this city Tuesday, and at three o'clock this afternoon the funeral services were held at the family home, 1031 River Street, and the body interred at Lakeside cemetery. Rev. J. T. Thomas, Jr., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was an honored member, officiated.
Laura Morrison was born Nov. 28th, 1863, at Statesville, North Carolina, unto Elim (sic) H. Morrison and Miss Jerusha Frances Scroggs, his wife. With her parents she came to Canon City in 1886 and lived here until December, 1900. For many eyars she was the faithful and trusted employee of Taggart Bros., and when that business by Baker & Biggs who retained her as assistant manager and buyer, a position she retained until she left for her new (illegible) the Southland, to which she went in December, 1900, being united in marriage at Houston, Texas, to Mr. A. C. Currie, and then went to her elegant home at Bay City, Texas. Her married life was a happy one. The few years soon sped away, and she leaves a heart broken companion to mourn her early and sudden departure. With her aged and widowed mother are left five brothers and four sisters to mourn the loss of a daughter and sister who was the personification of a true woman. The brothers are J. Q., Lee R., A. D. and H. M., of this city, and Louis F., of Leadville. The sisters are Fannie and Conney M. of this city, and Mrs. Maggie Adams of Steamboat Springs, all of whom are here to pay the last tribute of respect.
Laura Morrison was a woman of personality and force of character, and her social, home and business life were such as to draw unto herself and large circle of friends, and these all unite in mourning her death, and with the Times extend sympathy to the sorrowing family.
